Special Metro-North Train For UConn Fans Heading To NCAA Game
HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Metro-North is running a special train to help fans travel to New York City to cheer UConn men's basketball team for its upcoming NCAA Elite Eight game.
Gov. Dannel Malloy said the Metro-North will have an extra New Haven Line train on Sunday for fans to travel to and from Madison Square Garden.
"With another great win last night, I have no doubt that thousands of Husky fans will be heading down to the Garden on Sunday to show their support," said Malloy. "Another win, and our next stop will be the Final Four."
The so-called "Huskies Fan Express'' will leave New Haven's Union Station at 10:40 a.m. It will make just three stops -- at West Haven, Bridgeport and Harlem-125th Street -- before arriving at Grand Central Terminal at 12:23 p.m.
The timing for the return trip has not been set. Officials said the train will be ready and waiting at Grand Central to depart based on what time the game ends and fans arrive at the station.
