Police: Suspect Tried To Rape Woman In South Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday were searching for a suspect in the attempted rape of a woman in the South Bronx.
Around 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, the suspect came up to the 24-year-old woman from behind as she walked down East 161st Street, and threw her to the ground, police said.
The suspect then lifted the victim's skirt and lay on top of her, but ended up rerunning off toward the Grand Concourse -- at a scene not far from Yankee Stadium and the Bronx courthouse buildings.
The suspect was described as a black male about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a red and white striped short-sleeved shirt, and black watch on his left wrist, light blue jeans, white sneakers, and a baseball cap with stickers on the brim.
Police have released surveillance video.
