Sources: Suspect Sought In Shooting Death Of Queens Teen Arrested In South Carolina
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The suspect wanted for killing a Queens teenager on a city bus has been arrested in South Carolina, sources told CBS 2.
Kevin McClinton, 21, was wanted in connection with the death of 14-year-old D'Aja Robinson.
McClinton was arrested at around 6 a.m. Tuesday by the NYPD's Violent Felon Apprehension Team and U.S. Marshals, CBS 2 has learned.
McClinton remains in South Carolina awaiting extradition.
Robinson was riding a Q6 bus in South Jamaica earlier this month when police said a gunman fired at least nine shots from the street. Robinson was struck in the right temple and pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police believe the shooting was gang-related, but said Robinson was not connected to any gang activity. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said it appears Robinson was an innocent victim of the gunfire.
"One thing is clear — she was not, in our judgment, the target of the shooting," he said. "Terrible, this is, as I say, another senseless shooting."
