Son Of 9/11 Victim Allegedly Points Gun At Police Officer On L.I.
GREAT NECK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The son of a firefighter who died on 9/11 and another man face charges of menacing Long Island police with a gun.
Nassau police said Andrew Lelpi and Anthony Guerrero will be arraigned Monday on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and menacing a police officer.
Police found Lelpi outside a Great Neck glass business where they say he pointed a handgun at them Saturday. Police also found a .357 Magnum handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun at the scene.
Police went there after a Great Neck resident told them the two had threatened him over a money dispute.
Lelpi's father, Jonathan, was a FDNY firefighter.
His grandfather, Lee Lelpi, tells Newsday 9/11 has altered many young people's lives in terrible ways.
It's not clear if the suspects have lawyers.
