Traffic And Transit Info On Cancellations, Delays Due To Nor'easter

NEW YORK (CBS New York) -- Heavy snow, wind and rain slammed the Tri-State area Thursday, wreaking havoc on area roads and mass transit.

New York City has suspended alternate side parking regulations through Saturday. There is also no alternate-side parking on Sunday and Monday is a federal holiday. (click here to check Traffic & Transit)

Bridges & Tunnels:

The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, George Washington Bridge, Goethals Bridge, Bayonne Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing and Lincoln and Holland tunnels remain open. Motorists are being asked to drive at reduced speeds.

MTA Bus:

Bus service is expected to run at 80 percent capacity overall Friday morning, but some suspensions are possible on a route-by-route basis. All bus tires will be equipped with chains for additional traction. Allow extra travel time. More >>

MTA Subway:

For the Friday morning rush hour, the MTA expects to run a normal subway service, though some express services may run as local trains because of track conditions.

Five sections of outdoor subway lines are subject to temporary suspension between midnight and 4 a.m. Friday to allow for intensive snow clearing operations:
-- B and Q trains along the Brighton Line in Brooklyn from Prospect Park to Stillwell Avenue.
-- N trains along the Sea Beach Line in Brooklyn from 59th Street to Stillwell Avenue.
-- The Franklin Avenue S shuttle in Brooklyn
-- A and S shuttle trains along the Rockaway Line in Queens from Rockaway Boulevard to Beach 116 Street and Far Rockaway
-- No. 5 trains along the Dyre Avenue Line from East 180th St to Dyre Avenue.

Metro-North:

The railroad plans to operate a Saturday schedule on Friday, which represents about 40 percent of normal weekday service. Customers should check http://as0.mta.info/mnr/schedules/sched_form.cfm for point-to-point schedules, but be advised that they are subject to change. Off-peak fares will be in effect.

Customers are advised to limit travel if possible and anticipate crowding and delays. More >>

Long Island Rail Road:

The Long Island Rail Road plans to operate 90 percent of a normal weekday schedule Friday, canceling 14 of 144 morning rush trains as listed below. If weather conditions change overnight, further changes to the schedule are possible. Customers should check http://web.mta.info/lirr/Timetable/MorningRushHour.htm in the morning before beginning their travels.

LIRR station waiting rooms will remain open around-the-clock to accommodate customers waiting for trains during cold and inclement weather.

Babylon Branch:
-- The 5:59 a.m. train from Massapequa Park to Penn Station at 6:55 a.m. is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 6:14 a.m. train from Massapequa Park to Penn Station at 7:08 a.m.
-- The 6:57 a.m. train from Freeport to Penn Station at 7:40 a.m. is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 6:32 a.m. train from Babylon to Penn Station at 7:37 a.m. with added stops at Freeport, Baldwin, and Rockville Centre.
-- The 7:29 a.m. train from Freeport to Penn Station at 8:13 a.m. is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 7:11 a.m. train from Massapequa Park to Penn Station 8:08 a.m. with added stops at Freeport, Baldwin, and Rockville Centre.
-- The 7:48 a.m. train from Wantagh to Penn Station at 8:40 a.m., is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 7:51 a.m. train from Wantagh due Atlantic Terminal at 8:43 a.m. Customers will transfer at Jamaica for service to NY.
-- The 8:10 a.m. train from Freeport to Penn Station at 8:50 a.m. is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 7:45 a.m. train from Babylon to Penn Station 8:56 a.m. with added stops at Freeport, Baldwin, and Rockville Centre.
-- The 8:25 a.m. train from Freeport to Penn Station at 9:08 a.m. is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 8:03 a.m. train from Babylon to Penn Station at 9:11 a.m. with added stops at Freeport, Baldwin, and Rockville Centre.

Far Rockaway Branch:
-- The 8:03 a.m. train from Valley Stream to Penn Station at 8:42 a.m. is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 8:31 a.m. train from Valley Stream to Penn Station at 9:05 a.m.
-- The 8:10 a.m. train from Far Rockaway to Penn Station at 9:05 a.m. is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 8:21 a.m. train from Far Rockaway to Penn Station at 9:17 a.m. with added stops at Rosedale, Laurelton, and Locust Manor.

Hempstead Branch:
-- The 7:36 a.m. train from Hempstead due Atlantic Terminal at 8:28 a.m. is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 8:03 a.m. train from Hempstead to Penn Station at 8:51 a.m. with added stops at Queens Village, Hollis, and Jamaica. Customers for Atlantic Terminal change at Jamaica.

Long Beach Branch:
-- The 8:03 a.m. train from Long Beach to Penn Station at 8:54 a.m. is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 8:08 a.m. train from Long Beach to Penn Station at 9:02 a.m.

Oyster Bay Branch:
-- The 7:26 a.m. train from East Williston to Penn Station at 8:14 a.m. is canceled. Customers will be accommodated by the 7:48 a.m. train from East Williston due Long Island City at 8:34 a.m..

Port Jefferson/Huntington Branch:
-- The 6:25 a.m. train from Hicksville to Penn Station at 7:11 a.m. is canceled. Customers will accommodated by the 6:15 a.m. train from Huntington to Penn Station at 7:17 a.m. with added stops at Carle Place, Merillon Avenue, and New Hyde Park. The 5:44 a.m. train from Port Jefferson to Penn Station 7:20 a.m. will add a stop at Hicksville.

Port Washington Branch:
-- The 6:17 a.m. train from Port Washington to Penn Station at 7:03 a.m. is canceled. Customers will accommodated by the 6:27 a.m. train from Port Washington to Penn Station at 7:14 a.m..

Ronkonkoma:
-- The 6:54 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma to Penn Station at 8:06 a.m. is canceled. Customer will be accommodated by the 6:56 a.m. from Ronkonkoma due Atlantic Terminal at 8:17 a.m.. Customers for NY change at Jamaica. More >>

NJ TRANSIT:

NJ TRANSIT is offering systemwide cross-honoring of tickets, including private bus carriers, on Friday.

Waiting rooms will remain open for extended hours into Friday morning.

Ferries:

Rockland County Buses:

TOR:  The 59 and 91 routes have resumed service and are running on a Sunday schedule. All other routes remain suspended.

TRIPS:  Service is canceled for the day.

Bee-Line Bus and ParaTransit service is expected to resume around 9:15 a.m. Customers should expect delays.

Amtrak:

Amtrak plans to operate Keystone (New York to Harrisburg, Pa.), Crescent (New York to New Orleans) and Northeast Regional services (Boston to Washington), in addition to reduced frequencies of Acela Express (Washington to Boston) and Empire Service (New York – Albany, N.Y.) on Friday. Silver Meteor service (New York to Miami) has been canceled.

Airports:

LaGuardia Airport is open. As of 8:30 p.m., 657 flights to and from LaGuardia on Thursday had been canceled, and another 90 had been canceled for Friday.

John F. Kennedy International Airport is open. As of 8:30 p.m., 347 flights to and from JFK on Thursday had been canceled, and another 26 had been canceled for Friday. The airport was experiencing delays averaging 35 minutes Thursday night.

Newark Liberty International Airport is open. As of 8:30 p.m., 719 flights to and from Newark Liberty on Thursday had been canceled, and another 247 had been canceled for Friday. The airport was experiencing delays averaging 54 minutes Thursday night.

Stewart International, Atlantic City International and Teterboro Airport were all open and experiencing only minor delays Thursday night.

AirTrain JFK is fully operational.

AirTrain Newark is fully operational.
