Signs Of Life In Broad Channel, Queens 9 Days After Sandy
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The sight of a working traffic signal and a few lights was a big lift Wednesday evening, but in Broad Channel, Queens.
But as 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported, residents found the nor'easter to be a cold slap in the face from Mother Nature.

"If it happened in July or August, you might be OK. You could walk around in shorts and a T-shirt and your house would dry out," said Jim Gilmartin, of 16th Road. "But now, you have to keep the house closed, and the water is trapped in there."
Nearby, George Flora continued to work as the nor'easter swept in.
"Just try go get everything as quickly as possible and get out of here," he said. "I guess it can get worse. After you said it can't get any worse, I guess it can."
But the traffic light near the bridge was operational again after nine days. And up on the main drag, Cross Bay Boulevard, there was a sign of life at Rock N Roll Bagels, where Robert Steiner said they hope to soon open.
"We're working towards getting back," Steiner said. "You know, we're not going to be 100 percent when we get open, but we're going to be open, and I just like the fact of what it symbolizes."
But Steiner had a lot of work at home, where the tidal surge hit 7 feet.
