SI Charitable Group Helps Regift Unwanted Christmas Presents To Those In Need
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Following weeks of Christmas shopping, the gifts have all been opened.
But as WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, it seems there's never a shortage of unwanted gifts at this time of year.
The group Where To Turn on Staten Island takes donations of any unwanted items and redistributes them to those in need.

"A lot of times, those gifts get thrown in the closet and people just don't want to wait on line to return them to the store," executive director Dennis McKeon told Haskell. "Just because you don't need it [doesn't mean] there isn't somebody who can't use it."
The group runs an annual Regifting For A Good Cause program.
"Any toys, we're going to distribute to needy families. CDs or DVDs we send to the troops overseas," said McKeon.
Each year, Where To Turn typically regifts 1,000 to 1,500 unwanted holiday presents.
