Shoppers Head Out To Prepare For Passover This Monday
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It may be a religious tradition that is thousands of years old, but there is nothing old-fashioned about Passover, which starts this coming Monday evening.
As 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported, shoppers in search of a contemporary Passover headed Wednesday to Pomegranate, an upscale Kosher supermarket at 1507 Coney Island Ave. in Midwood, Brooklyn.

One shopper said the store offers a variety that can't be beat, and said she came all the way from Philadelphia to shop.
"It almost doesn't feel like Pesach – I don't know if that's the right way to put it," she said. "But because you can eat so many different things, you get so many options. Years ago, people just ate matzah and potatoes."
Store owner Abraham Banda said the biggest shopping day will be Sunday. His specialty is meat, and he emphasized that Passover is a special feast.
"It's called a Seder. You have to feel, and you sit like a king," he said. "So a king usually has a lot of variety of foods."
Passover, or Pesach, commemorates the Exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt to freedom. The Seder, usually held on the first night or the first two nights, involves the reenactment of the Exodus through traditional food items, as well as the recitation of stories and songs.
Passover ends on the evening of Tuesday, April 2.
