Shades Of Sandy: Drivers Face Long Lines At Gas Stations Before Blizzard
PARAMUS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Haven't we gone through this already?
With a blizzard heading for the Tri-State Area, the scene at gas stations Thursday night brought back memories of Superstorm Sandy.
Reporter Glenn Schuck of 1010 WINS spoke with drivers lined up 20 cars deep at a BP station in Paramus.
Gas Lines For In New Jersey Ahead Of Blizzard
"It's kind of crazy. It took me my surprise. I actually don't have any gas. I need to get to work tomorrow so filling up," David Ross said. "It took me completely by surprise, didn't expect it at all."
The memories of Sandy were in the minds of drivers, who were not willing to take any chances with Friday's impending monster snowstorm on the way.
"It's better to be safe than sorry," another man said.
Another man from River Edge came to Paramus because the station in his town had an hour wait.
"Crazy in River Edge, but I just wanted to get the tank filled up because my wife has to go to work tomorrow," he said.
Some people even came with gas tanks in hand to fuel their generators in the event of power loss.
Schuck reported the lines at gas stations on the highway were actually more manageable Thursday night than they were on the back roads of the Garden State.
New Jersey was apparently not the only place being affected by the long lines.
CBS 2 learned of long gas lines in parts of Long Island and Connecticut.
