Settlement Reached In Notorious 2005 L.I. Wrong-Way DWI Crash
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The family of a 7-year-old girl killed in a wrong-way drunken-driving crash in 2005 on Long Island has reached a settlement in the lawsuit against the convicted driver and the company that owned the limousine they were riding in.
The settlement sum was not disclosed.
In July 2005, after a joyous family wedding, flower girl Katie Flynn and driver Stanley Rabinowitz were killed after Martin Heidgen drove the wrong way on the Meadowbrook Parkway and crashed into the limousine.
Family attorney Christopher McGrath told Newsday no amount of money could ever compensate the Lido Beach family for what they all went through.
Heidgen's attorney, Donald Henderson, told the paper the settlement was for $1.3 million.
Heidgen was convicted of depraved indifference murder and is serving 18 years to life in prison.
