Spokesman Dan Stessel says partial service is being restored between Newark and New York City. But Stessel says riders can expect major delays during Wednesday's evening commute. NJ Transit suspended rail service in both directions between Newark and New York City earlier in the day due to overhead wire damage near the Portal Bridge in Secaucus.
Amtrak's Northeast Corridor service in and out of Penn Station in New York also was suspended due to the New Jersey wire damage and a similar problem near Hunts Point in New York.
There was no immediate word on when it would resume.
