LIRR Train Strikes Car Near Greenlawn Station
GREENLAWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Long Island Rail Road service has been restored between Port Jefferson and Huntington following an earlier accident involving a train and an unauthorized vehicle on the tracks.
The accident involved the 7:35 a.m. train from Port Jefferson due in Penn Station at 9:24 a.m., spokesman Aaron Donovan told CBS 2.
The train struck the vehicle around 8:25 a.m. just west of the Greenlawn station, suspending service in both directions between Port Jefferson and Huntington.
Service was restored around 10 a.m.
There have been no reports of injuries, Donovan said.
The investigation is ongoing.
