The boy was set to be sentenced today after he pleaded guilty on Nov. 18, but city lawyers said the boy had issues in school, terrorizing other kids and even hit his mother's cat.

The boy is due back in court Dec. 19 after the judge has had time to review the case.

His attorney had planned to ask the judge to release the boy into his mother's custody and sentence him to probation or participation in a community-based program.

The teen and a 12-year-old friend, who pleaded guilty on Nov. 23, have been held in a minimum security youth jail since the incident on Oct. 30.

The boys were accused of critically injuring 47-year-old Marion Hedges when they pushed the cart from the fourth-floor walkway outside a Target store in Harlem. Hedges is still hospitalized in serious condition.

The 12-year-old is still set to be sentenced Wednesday.

They face up to 18 months in juvenile detention, but could have their sentences extended indefinitely until they turn 18.
