3 Injured After Car Crashes Into Long Island Home
SELDEN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork)-- Three people were injured after a car came crashing through a Long Island home.
The accident happened around 4:52 a.m. on College Road in Selden when a Honda Civic smashed into the home, CBS2's Steve Langford reported.
The young driver could be seen stretched out by his vehicle after crashing right through the wall of the home, apparently into a garage.
An older couple was asleep upstairs and the man and woman were both taken to the hospital, one with minor injuries and one with what police called a medical condition.
Despite the fact that the driver was seen flat on his back on the front lawn, the young driver was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Suffolk County Police said they've made no arrests. The speed limit is 30 miles per hour in the town. Skid marks across the lawn were clearly visible and a lawn lamp was smashed as the car hurtled toward the home.
Joyce Muthalany lives right across the street.
"Something nobody wants to happen to their home," she said.
The car was extracted from the home carefully as the cleanup began. Police have not released the identity of the driver but say he is 23 years old and from Port Jefferson Station.
