Secret Service: Possible Threat To President Obama During Westchester Visit
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities were searching late Friday for a possible suspicious person and vehicle in connection with a potential threat to President Barack Obama, who was in Westchester County for two events.
The Secret Service released a statement reporting that a "potentially suspicious person and vehicle" were being sought.
"Information has been received by law enforcement regarding a potentially suspicious person and vehicle. We are working with our local law enforcement partners to determine the validity of the information provided," the statement said.
CBS Connecticut reported the person was driving a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta with Connecticut plates. No other information has been released.
CBS affiliate WFSB-TV reported that Connecticut State Police had also been told to watch for the suspicious person and car.
Reuters reported authorities as saying the car sought in connection with the threat was found in Connecticut.
Further details were not released late Friday.
The president flew into Westchester County Airport in White Plains on Friday afternoon.
He was to attend a small, roundtable event in New Rochelle and a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in Purchase, WCBS 880's Sean Adams reported. The president was to spend the evening at a fundraiser in Rhode Island.
