Second Section Of High Line Park Opening To Public
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Mayor Michael Bloomberg cuts the ribbon Tuesday on the second section of the High Line, expanding the park from the meat-packing district through Chelsea.
Phase two expands the wildly popular park 10 blocks north to 30th Street.
"When we said the High Line was going to be good for the neighborhood, we never really thought it would generate this much change," said co-founder Robert Hammond.

He says property values have soared and celebrity guests have opened restaurants.
"There's one restaurant that said the recession ended for them the day the High Line opened just 'cause it's bringing all these new people to the neighborhood," said Hammond.
The High Line has gone from an eyesore to a true New York City gem.
