Second Person In Brentwood House Explosion Dies
BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A second person has died a week after an explosion destroyed a Long Island home, killing an 18-month-old boy and injuring several others.
Patricia Salegna-Maqueda died Tuesday night at Stony Brook University Medical Center, police said. The 46-year-old State Farm insurance representative was at the Brentwood home last Tuesday checking on a flooding claim when the house exploded.
Police said the blast was linked to propane, but they still don't know the source. Attention was focused on two 200-pound propane tanks. The home did not have natural gas, police said.
Killed in the explosion was 18-month-old Rah-quan Palmer. His father, Rashamel Palmer, was treated and released. The child's mother, Christina Morgan, suffered a gash to the head.
More than a dozen others, including neighbors and first responders, were injured.
