Second Avenue Subway Blasting Continues
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The MTA had a literal blast a few weeks ago, as crews continue work on what will be the Second Avenue subway.
Workers blasted through Manhattan schist rock to create what will be the future 72nd Street station.
The blast video was posted to the MTA's official Youtube page on Aug. 2, which said the blast occurred on June 26.
Some east side residents have voiced concern about the health of the dust from subway blasting. But according to the MTA's internal monitoring reports, the air around the site is not toxic.
The subway project is expected to be completed in December 2016.
