Search Under Way For Missing Boater In Manhasset Bay

PORT WASHINGTON, NY (CBSNewYork) -- Crews are searching for a missing boater in Manhasset Bay after officials say a boat he and three others were in capsized overnight.

Officials say four men, apparently intoxicated, took a small town-owned row boat around 3 a.m. that then overturned near the town dock in Port Washington.

Three of the men were pulled from the water after fishermen spotted them Thursday morning clinging to another boat in the water and called 911, but the fourth man has been unaccounted for.

"We have a full-fledged search underway right now with the aviation, the Marine Bureau and the local fire departments checking the area of Manhasset Bay," said  Port Washington Fire Chief Geoffrey Cole.

The three who were rescued were taken to the hospital and treated for hypothermia.

Officials say the fourth man may have made it ashore, but that his friends are unsure of his whereabouts.
