Pilot's Body Recovered From Upstate New York Vintage Jet Crash
KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP/CBSNewYork) -- New York State police divers recovered the body of a pilot from the cockpit of a vintage military jet that crashed into ice on the Hudson River near a Kingston airport on Saturday.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Holly Baker said the body of 38-year-old Michael Faraldi, a podiatrist from Germantown, was removed around 3 p.m. Sunday. She said the aircraft was being lifted onto a barge.
The accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday near the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge -- midway between Albany and New York City.
Police say Faraldi was piloting the plane from Nashville, Tenn., to an airport in Ghent, N.Y. The jet, a British-made BAC 167 Strikemaster, had made a fuel stop at an airfield Johnstown, Pa., and did a flyover for friends at Kingston just before it crashed.
