Search On For Thieves Who Took Construction Vehicles From Brooklyn Site

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were asking the public Friday to help them find four or five persons of interest in the theft of a construction vehicle, a truck and a construction trailer from a Brooklyn site.

Around 8:30 p.m. this past Tuesday, the suspects broke the locks and the fence on a fenced-in lot at 420 Park Ave., in the northwest corner of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, police said.

They stole a 2005 JCB Excavator, Model JZ140; a 1986 Mack tractor, and a 1980 Rogers trailer, police said.

The Mack tractor had New York license plates 26208ME with a Maja Construction logo on the driver's side, and the Rogers trailer had New York license plates BE15142, police said.

The vehicles have not been found.

Police identified one of the persons of interest as a white male about 40 years old, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a baseball hat. They identified another as a black male standing about 6 feet tall.

Police believe there are three more persons of interest, but have no information about them.

Video surveillance from a store across the street from the lot captured one of the suspects, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
