Search On For Suspect In Shooting That Wounded Girl, 14, In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Saturday were searching for a gunman wanted in a shooting that wounded a 14-year-old girl in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.
The NYPD has released a surveillance photo of a suspect running from the scene through a gas station.
The girl was walking home from Benjamin Bennett High School around 3:30 p.m. Friday when she heard three to four gunshots at Sutter and Euclid avenues, and felt pain in her leg, police said. She realized she had been shot in the leg, police said.
She was taken to Kings County Hospital Center after suffering a through-and-through wound to her leg, police said. Her condition was listed as stable.
Police later found the video footage of the suspect running east on Sutter Avenue. He was in the gas station when he fired at the victim, police said.
The suspect then fled the scene.
The suspect was described as a black male between the ages of 18 and 20, standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and dark pants.
