Search On For Police Impersonator Who Robbed, Shot Man In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The search continued Sunday for a police impersonator, who flashed a badge and gun and robbed a man in the Bronx back in October.
Police released surveillance video of the suspect earlier Sunday.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30 – a day after Superstorm Sandy struck the Tri-State Area – in an apartment in the 2400 block of Crotona Avenue just a few blocks from the Bronx Zoo. The 41-year-old victim allowed the suspect to enter his apartment, thinking he knew the man, police said.
One the man entered, he flashed a police badge and a silver gun and demanded money. The victim refused to give the man anything and tried to run away, police said.
The suspect then fired a shot and struck the victim in the left thigh, before running off, police said.
The victim was taken to St. Barnabus Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic between 30 and 35 years old, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. Police have released a surveillance video of the crime scene.
