Search On For Cyclist Who Hit Driver With Bike Lock In Flatiron District
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday were looking for a cyclist who allegedly attacked a driver with a bike lock in the Flatiron District.
Around 5:40 p.m. Monday, the 54-year-old driver was in his car at 24th Street and Fifth Avenue when he was cut off by the cyclist, police said.
The two got into a quarrel, and the cyclist struck the man's 2007 Subaru and then used his bike lock to hit the man in the right cheek and ear, police said.
The suspect fled east on 23rd Street on a blue bicycle carrying a messenger bag, police said.
The victim suffered injuries requiring stitches, which he received at Staten Island University Hospital, police said.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a dark belt, light-colored shorts, black stockings and black shoes.
