Search Continues For Child Predator In Elmont
ELMONT, N.Y. (1010 WINS/CBS 2) -- Three times in the past three weeks, Police in Elmont said there have been reports of children being approached by a man in an SUV, asking them to get in.
Nassau County Detective Lieutenant Kevin Smith said the latest incident was on Saturday evening.
"This predator, whoever he is, seems to be focusing on small boys and he focuses in on them as they are walking alone," Smith said.
Police said none of the boys got in the car.
One 13-year-old Elmont middle school student told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera he believed younger boys were the most vulnerable.

"Little kids don't know much about death or stuff right now so it's very dangerous," he said.
Another student spoke of the advice he had for his brother if he found himself in a similar situation.
"I told my brother if something happens like that, they should just like walk away or run away," he said.
Police said the suspect was a man in his 20's or 30's driving a dark SUV. Authorities have also released surveillance video of the vehicle, taken by an Elmont homeowner, which they hope might help catch the suspect.
"He says something to the effect of 'yo get in the car' and in this last incident, he let out a couple of profanities as well," Smith said highlighting the suspect's growing aggressiveness.
"Obviously we're very concerned it happened again and this time the person was more forceful in the way he spoke to the boy."
Schools are instructing their students not to engage the suspect. Adding that if the he were to drive alongside them, they should keep pace, turn and run in opposite direction in addition to calling 911.
CBS 2's Jennifer McLogan spoke with some parents who expressed great concern over the vulnerability of their children.
Dina Llanos called the suspect an "evil" and "sick" person.
"I hope they catch him" Llanos said.
The suspect has yet to leave his car or touch any children, but there are fears in the community that could be next.
