Seahawks Installed As Early Online Favorites To Win Super Bowl 50
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- At least one online gambling site isn't totally enamored with Tom Brady winning his fifth Super Bowl ring.
Bovada Online Sportsbook released its early odds on Super Bowl 50, and right now the industry leader sees the Seattle Seahawks as the best bet to win the 2015 NFL championship.
The Seahawks came within a questionable play call Sunday night of possibly repeating as Super Bowl champions. Their decision to pass from the 1-yard line still with one timeout remaining in the waning seconds of their battle with New England backfired as an interception in the end zone clinched the Patriots' 28-24 victory.
Still, with a roster that figures to have plenty of young firepower on both sides of the ball next season, the Seahawks have been installed by Bovada as 5-to-1 favorites to capture their second Lombardi Trophy. The Patriots, who back in 2004 were the last team to repeat as NFL champions, came in at 7-to-1.
The Green Bay Packers, led by league MVP Aaron Rodgers, are 8-to-1, followed by the Denver Broncos, who may or may not have Peyton Manning back next season, at 10-to-1. The Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts are both 14-to-1.
As for the New York teams, the Giants are 40-to-1 and the Jets, who will start the 2015 season with an entirely new front office and coaching staff, are 100-to-1. Only the Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders, at 200-to-1, are bigger long shots.
