The Mets and Yankees meet for the first time this season as the two teams play the Bronx portion of the Subway Series this weekend.
For the first time since interleague play began in 1997, Mariano Rivera will not be part of the Yankees-Mets matchup. Rivera, who is out for the season, has gone 4-3 with a 3.28 ERA and 20 saves in his 33 regular season appearances against Mets.
Only four other Yankees have recorded saves against the Mets in interleague play. All four instances came from 2001 through 2004 and each of them came in games played at the old Yankee Stadium:
•7/6/01 Ramiro Mendoza (3-inning save in 8-3 win).
•6/28/02 Orlando Hernandez (4-inning save in 11-5 win).
•6/27/03 Dan Miceli (1-inning save in 6-4 win).
•6/27/04 Tom Gordon (2-inning save in 8-1 win).
The Yankees have won six of the nine games played against the Mets at the new Yankee Stadium beginning with the Luis Castillo error in the bottom of the 9th inning back in the first Mets-Yankees interleague game played there in 2009.
The Mets have been outscored 52-29 by the Yanks in the nine games played at the new Yankee Stadium. The Yankees have also won six of nine vs. the Mets at Citi Field, outscoring them 39-21.
Jose Reyes and Gary Sheffield are the only Mets to have homered more than once at the new Yankee Stadium, twice each. They also share the club RBI lead there with four.
David Wright is the Mets leading hitter at the new Yankee Stadium, batting .292. Fernando Nieve, Hisanori Takahashi and R.A. Dickey own the three Mets victories in the Bronx since 2009.
Louisiana high school shortstop Gavin Cecchini was the Mets' first-round pick (12th overall) in the MLB Draft. New York also took Purdue Catcher Kevin Plawecki with the 35th selection, the compensation pick for losing Jose Reyes to the Marlins in free agency. The Mets used picks 71 and 75 (also a compensation choice) to draft Arkansas third baseman Matt Reynolds and Texas high school pitcher Teddy Stankiewicz.

Hits: Lucas Duda. Mets rightfielder takes over club lead with 10 home runs, hitting five in his last eight games.
Errors: Bumpy Road. Mets have now made 32 errors in their 27 games away from Citi Field. The club has just 15 errors in 31 home contests.
