The Mets have dropped four games in a row for the first time since early June as they head into the last week of August.
Matt Harvey allowed a career-high 13 hits in the Mets' 3-0 loss to the Tigers Saturday. It was the 17th time in club history a Mets pitcher allowed as many as 13 hits in a game and two shy of Tom Seaver's dubious record 15.
Here are the games in which a Mets pitcher allowed 14-or-more base hits:
•5/25/76 Tom Seaver 15 at Phi 6 inn.
•6/4/64 Al Jackson 14 vs Hou 6 2/3 inn.
•6/22/95 Bill Pulsipher 14 vs Phi 6 2/3 inn.
•7/24/96 Jason Isringhausen 14 at Col 6 inn.
Marlon Byrd hit his 21st home run of the season last Tuesday night in the 5-3 win over the Braves. Byrd has proven to be one of the biggest bargains of the last off-season, signing a one-year deal with the Mets.
