Jose Reyes became the Mets' all-time leader in runs scored this past week, breaking a tie with Darryl Strawberry and the injured David Wright atop the club's leaderboard in that category:
•Jose Reyes 670
•Darryl Strawberry 662
•David Wright 662
•Howard Johnson 627
•Edgardo Alfonzo 614
•Mookie Wilson 592
•Cleon Jones 563
•Ed Kranepool 536
•Mike Piazza 532
•Carlos Beltran 515
(totals through games of 5/30/11)
One of Reyes' runs this past week came on what SNY's Gary Cohen described as a "Little League home run" after Reyes circled the bases thanks to a double and a pair of Chicago Cubs errors. It was the Mets second such play this season and, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, the 5th in club history:
•5/26/11 at Chicago Jose Reyes (double & errors by RF Kosuke Fukudome & 2B Darwin Barney).
•4/21/11 vs Houston Jason Bay (four-base error by RF Hunter Pence).
•8/24/09 vs Philadelphia Angel Pagan (2 errors by 2B Chase Utley).
•9/10/78 vs Pittsburgh Willie Montanez (2 errors by 2B Phil Garner).
•7/14/64 at Chicago Ron Hunt (fielder's choice & 2 errors by C Dick Bertell).
Former Mets infielder Wilson Valdez got a win in relief for the Phillies after pitching a scoreless top of the 19th inning last week in a victory over the Reds. Valdez was the first position player to get a win in relief since another former Met, Brent Mayne, back in 2001. The Mets have used position players as pitchers six times in club history, most recently with Todd Zeile in 2004. None of the five Mets position players got a decision in the six relief outings but here is how they fared in their pitching appearances:

The Mets set a club record with 13 two-out hits this past Sunday in their 9-4 win over Philadelphia. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the previous high for the Mets was 12, set back on August 2nd, 2007 at Milwaukee. Current Met Chris Capuano was the starter and loser that day for the Brewers, allowing 10 of the Mets 18 overall hits, six of which came with two out.
Capuano struck out each of the first four Phillies batters he faced this past Saturday night at Citi Field. Another Mets lefty, Pete Falcone holds the club record of striking out the first six batters in a game.
Back on May 1st, 1980 against the Phils, Falcone fanned Lonnie Smith, Pete Rose and Garry Maddox in the top of the 1st and then struck out Mike Schmidt. Greg Luzinksi and Bob Boone in the 2nd. Falcone finished the game with eight K's but came away with a 2-1 loss having given up a two-run homer by future Mets coach Luis Aguayo.
The Mets' 10-game homestand continues this week against the Pirates and Braves. Pittsburgh did not win a game at Citi Field in either of the ballpark's first two seasons, going 0 and 7 against the Mets. Atlanta, which will be making the first of its three series visits to Flushing this weekend, has gone 6 and 12 at Citi Field since it opened its gates.
Schwei's Runs, Hits and Errors:
Runs: Season-Highs. Mets match best offensive output of 2011 with nine runs on season-high 17 hits in 9-4 win over Phillies.
Hits: Jose Reyes. Mets SS ties career-best with six straight multiple hit games, two shy of Steve Henderson's club record eight straight set back in July of 1979.
Errors: Mets' Bullpen. Pen comes into week having allowed 28 earned runs in its last 20 innings.
