Pedro Feliciano is now one appearance away from breaking his club record for games pitched in a season (88) set last year. Only eight times in major league history has a pitcher appeared in 90 or more games in a single season but its only happened once since 1987:
· Mike Marshall 104 1974
· Kent Tekulve 94 1979
· Salomon Torres 94 2006
· Mike Marshall 92 1973
· Kent Tekulve 91 1978
· Wayne Granger 90 1969
· Mike Marshall 90 1979
· Kent Tekulve 90 1987
Feliciano, who is the only pitcher in baseball to appear in over 400 games over the past five seasons, owns four of the top 10 single-season franchise highs for appearances by a Mets pitcher:
· Pedro Feliciano 88 2010
· Pedro Feliciano 88 2009
· Pedro Feliciano 86 2008
· Mike Stanton 83 2004
· Joe Smith 82 2008
· Aaron Heilman 81 2007
· Turk Wendell 80 1999
· Sean Green 79 2009
· Pedro Feliciano 78 2007
· Aaron Heilman 78 2008
The Milwaukee Brewers and Washington Nationals come to Citi Field as the Mets close out the 2010 season. The Brewers are the second-to-last club to visit Flushing this year after being the second team to face the Mets at Citi Field in 2009. Milwaukee dropped two of three against the Mets in New York in that lone visit from April 17th through 19th last season.
Only nine Mets who were on the active 25-man roster during that series are currently active with the club heading into this week's meeting; Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Castillo, Green, Feliciano, Parnell, Pelfrey and Perez.
The Philadelphia Phillies failed to clinch the National League East title against the Mets Sunday. Had Philadelphia won, it would have been the 6th time since divisional play began in 1969 that a team clinched the N.L. East with a win against the Mets:
· 9/27/70 Mets 1 at Pirates 2
· 9/21/72 Pirates 6 at Mets 2
· 10/3/81 Expos 5 at Mets 4 (2nd half of split-season)
· 9/27/92 Mets 2 at Pirates 4
· 9/26/00 Braves 7 at Mets 1
Schwei's Runs, Hits and Errors:
Runs: Jerry Manuel. Saturday victory in Philadelphia was his 200th as Mets manager and 700th career win as a major league skipper.
Hits: Jose Reyes. Set club record with 24-game road hitting streak from 6/28 through 9/24. Mets shortstop's last away game without a hit prior to the streak was back on June 20th vs. Yankees so last hitless game for Reyes away from New York was actually in San Diego; June 2nd.
Errors: Road woes. 2 and 3 mark on final road trip gave Mets nine losing road trips out of 11 in 2010. Club went 7-2 vs. O's, Indians and Yanks (6/11-6/20) and 4-3 against Astros and Pirates (8/16-8/22).
