Schumer Aide Cleared On Drug Charge, Pleads Guilty To Violation
STONY POINT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- An aide to U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) arrested on drug charges has pleaded guilty to a traffic violation after charges were dropped.
Cody Peluso, the Hudson Valley regional director for Schumer, was placed on leave while authorities investigated the charges, according to Schumer spokesman Angelo Roefaro.
Roefaro said Schumer was shocked and saddened by news of the arrest.
Peluso, 32, was pulled over May 22 in Stony Point. Lt. Keith Williams said Peluso was arrested on charges he possessed prescription pills and steroids.
Peluso was released on $100 bail and was scheduled to appear in court in June.
He later plead guilty to a non-criminal traffic violation and paid $390 in fines.
