School Bus Driver In Westchester County Accused Of Having Sexual Contact With 11-Year-Old Girl
BEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A school bus driver in Westchester County is accused of having sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl and sending her explicit text messages.
Brayan Moscoso Arias, 22, of Brewster, was arrested Friday night and charged with sexual abuse and disseminating indecent material to a minor -- both felonies. He was also ordered not to have contact with the girl.
Arias is a bus driver for Fox Lane Middle School in the Bedford Central School District.
"The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We are not able to provide any comment, as the matter is the subject of a law enforcement investigation," Superintendent of Schools Dr. Christopher M. Manno told CBS2 in a statement.
Police said they learned Arias was going to meet the girl Friday night and placed him under surveillance. He was taken into custody around 11 p.m. in downtown Mount Kisco near an ice cream shop where they were allegedly supposed to meet.
"I have two kids that go to school right down the road, so it's very shocking," Brewster resident Theresa Panetta said. "I'm very surprised and shocked, we've never had anything like that happen in the neighborhood at all."
"This should not happen. The school district should do a better job when they hire people," said resident Robert Piga.
"You have to prosecute them, you have to put them in jail," resident Plinio Palmieri said.
Authorities notified the girl's mother, and she was not there when Arias was arrested.
