Scarsdale Under Water Emergency; Outside Use Of Water Prohibited
SCARSDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - A water emergency has been declared in the upscale Westchester County village of Scarsdale after a double pump failure, officials announced.
Village officials have banned all outside use of water and have asked all residents to turn off automatic sprinkler systems and refrain from washing their cars.
The village posted on its official website that hand-watering plants is allowed.
Technicians were working Sunday to fix the problem at the main pumping station in Scarsdale. It's about 25 miles north of New York City.
Officials don't have a timetable indicating when the repair will be done.
