Sayville Man Arrested In DWI Wrong-Way Crash
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Sayville Man was arrested for DWI Saturday evening in yet another wrong-way crash on Long Island.
Suffolk County police said they arrested 40-year-old Scott Coutts, who was driving eastbound on the westbound lanes of the Sunrise Highway Service Road in Bohemia.
Authorities said Coutts -- in his 1987 Buick Skyhawk -- struck an SUV stopped at a red light. He then proceeded to turn his car around -- heading in the correct direction -- and hit a pick-up truck on the service road before running into a snow bank.
There were no serious injuries in the accidents. Coutts has been charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
The latest incident comes on the heels of New York transportation officials announcing they would check all 450 entrance and exit ramps at trouble spots along the Northern State Parkway, Sunrise Highway and Southern State Parkway.
Officials said they hoped to have the checks completed by the spring.
