Sandy Victims To Get Boot From Rockland Shelter For Conference
STONY POINT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Some victims of Sandy in Rockland County still can't return home and their temporary shelter won't be available this weekend.

There's now a scramble to house 30 families (about 100 people) who have been staying a Presbyterian retreat house on Cricket Town Road in Stony Point, but it's booked for a weekend conference.
Single mother Nina Brabam is understanding.
"Every day, I cry a little bit. I laugh a little bit. I hang on a little bit. But I know that there's a god out there and I know that there are good people out there. I know there are," she told WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams. "If they didn't take us in, I really don't know what we would have done, to be quite frank with you. So, God was looking out for us when this disaster happened."
The plight of these 30 families illustrates the struggles of dealing with paperwork, red tape, and the process of applying for aid.
"Now we just need the further assistance so that we don't fall any further backwards. That's all I'm hoping for this Christmas, is just to have a good year," Brabam said.
On River Road, one home is being swallow by a sink hole and others are shuttered. Many mobile homes are also uninhabitable, as floodwaters were fouled by sewage.
