Sandy Prompts Rutgers To Cancel Classes For Rest Of Week
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Rutgers University has decided to cancel classes for the rest of the week at its New Brunswick and Newark campuses in New Jersey.
But classes will resume Thursday at the Camden campus, where damage from Superstorm Sandy was less severe.
University officials said widespread power outages were "significantly affecting operations" at the flagship campus in New Brunswick and Piscataway, as well as the Newark campus.
Public transportation statewide has been impacted by flooding and electrical problems, while the New Brunswick public water supply was affected by the storm, university officials noted.
Classes on the New Brunswick and Newark campuses were tentatively scheduled to resume Monday.
