Saddle Brook Girl Scouts Exceed Book Drive Goal By Almost 55 Times
SADDLE BROOK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - The Girl Scouts' slogan is "Do a good turn daily" and Troop 4324 in Saddle Brook certainly lived up to that.
Six girls collected 27,187 books for Paterson children, who lost the Northside branch library to Superstorm Sandy.
"I was so happy that we were collecting so many books for the kids of Paterson," 10-year-old Sarah Miller told WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams. "Everyone should have the gift of reading."

"I felt really sad because the fact that they had no books was unbelievable," she added."
Their original goal was 500 books, but donations kept coming in from a publisher and surrounding libraries and schools.
"If they could achieve this at 9 and 10-years-old, I have no doubt that they will grow up to be strong leaders and very involved in their communities helping people," said troop leader and Sarah's mom Jennifer Miller. "I'm extremely proud of them."
On Thursday, the Saddle Brook Township Council honored the Girl Scouts.
