WCBS 880's Catherine Cioffi reports
Well, the Rye Brook Police Department has contracted with crimereports.com to show residents, on a map, exactly where crimes occur and what kind of offense it is.
"From there, the police department can see any patterns that develop, in terms of traffic accidents or speeding complaints," says Rye Brook police chief Greg Austin.
Austin says this is a way for the public to help police fight crime.
Austin hopes that "if they see that there's a spat of vandalism in their neighborhood, that they'll be on the lookout to report it to the police."
The service costs the town $49 a month.
