Rutgers University Students Want Bruce Springsteen To Speak After Appearance By Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Some Rutgers University students think there's only one New Jersey celebrity well-known and well-loved enough to counteract the impression left by "Snooki."

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi was paid $32,000 to speak at Rutgers, and gave the students there advice like "Study hard, but party harder." Polizzi's payday was $2,000 more than Nobel prize winner Toni Morrison, who was invited to the deliver the commencement address.
The decision to invite Snooki caused something of an uproar and backlash.
"It reflects negatively on the student population and it makes us feel negative about ourselves," junior Paul Tranquilli, a labor studies major, said.
Now some students think the only way to fix Rutgers image is for Bruce Springsteen to come speak - for free.
Tranquilli is behind the Facebook campaign called "College Ave Freeze Out: Let's Bring The Boss To Rutgers" which has gained the support of over 4,600 students.
"We believe it's probable and if there were anytime in our University's recent history where we needed something that's monumentally positive it would be right now," Tranquilli said.
