Rutgers Subpoenaed For E-mails On Clementi Complaint

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBS 2/AP) -- The investigation into a Rutgers student's suicide is heating up.

Prosecutors have subpoenaed Rutgers University for e-mails concerning how the school handled complaints from freshman Tyler Clementi that his roommate used a webcam to spy on him.

The Star-Ledger of Newark reports that prosecutors asked for the subpoenas after investigators felt the state university was not fully cooperating with the invasion of privacy case.

The newspaper cited two officials who were briefed on the probe, but did not name the officials because they were not authorized to speak about the ongoing inquiry.

Clementi jumped off the George Washington Bridge into the Hudson River on Sept. 22. His roommate and another student have been charged with invasion of privacy.

Wednesday night, hundreds of people gathered at the Rutgers student center in New Brunswick for a town meeting in memory of Clementi.

His suicide has sparked a nationwide call to action against bullying.
