Rutgers' Schiano Announces 4 Signings, 1 Transfer

PISCATAWAY. N.J. (AP) — Defensive back Johnathan Aiken and punter Anthony DiPaula have enrolled at Rutgers and will participate in the Scarlet Knights' spring football practice.

Coach Greg Schiano also announced Tuesday that defensive linemen Kenneth Kirksey and Djwany Mera also have enrolled. Kirksey of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Mera of Hollywood, Fla., were part of last year's recruiting class but failed to qualify academically. They spent this past year becoming eligible at Fort Union and Hargrave military academies, respectively.

Aiken of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., played at Chaminade. DiPaula, of Manalapan, averaged 43.3 yards punting this past season at St. John Vianney High School. He also led the Shore Conference with 10 field goals.

Schiano said Dallas Hendrikson, a transfer center from Iowa Western Community College, also is enrolled at Rutgers.
