Russell Martin Jaws With Orioles' Robert Andino; Pitch-Tipping To Blame?
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The Yankees finally won their first game of the season Monday night against Baltimore. So with New York temporarily able to exhale, why the drama?
After the game's final out, Russell Martin could be seen engaged in a heated exchange with the Orioles' Robert Andino.
Martin wouldn't confirm the root of the altercation, though multiple reports indicate the catcher was upset that Andino may have been tipping the location of Mariano Rivera's pitches from second base.
"I don't remember what happened at the end there," said Martin. "A little yapping session towards the end. Nothing crazy."
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said it was just "boys ... being boys."
Martin couldn't say whether the sparks would carry over into Tuesday's game.
"Maybe it'll make it more exciting, I don't know," he said. "I can't predict the future. It's fun. It's baseball. There's emotions flying and stuff. What else can I say?"
