Roommate In Custody After Police Find Man Dead In UES Apartment
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating the death of a Upper East Side man, who was found in his apartment Thursday morning.
The 40-year-old was discovered dead around 8 a.m. by marshals coming to serve an eviction notice to the victim and his roommate, who lived at the East 62nd Street residence with the roommate's dog on the 4th floor.
Neighbors told CBS 2's Hazel Sanchez that they heard cries for help. One neighbor, who lives across the hall, said he often heard screaming and fighting at the apartment and that police were called to the area on numerous occasions.
The roommate's dog was also found covered in blood, but authorities said the victim's death didn't appear to be caused by a dog attack.
The surviving roommate has been taken into custody, but hasn't been placed under arrest. The investigation is still ongoing.
