Romney Needs To Tell Andrea Saul, "You're Fired!"
How can people so close to the two presidential candidates be so ignorant? Team Obama's got an Obama campaign spokesperson Jen Psaki and deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter, and Team Romney's got Andrea Saul, a Romney campaign spokesperson, all of whom are practically fighting over which one of them can "lose" the election quicker for their chosen candidate.
Many Americans already assume that the cream-of-the-intelligent-crop of Americans isn't always the one who goes into anything politics-related. But when the supposedly-best candidates of the two major parties – President Barack Obama and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney staff their campaigns with the likes of Psaki, Cutter and Saul, things appear to be extremely dismal. One of these two presidential candidates is actually going to run the country until 2016 when they embed their campaigns with people like these?
First there was Psaki and then Cutter making dishonest statements that were so easy to catch regarding the highly-criticized Obama ad created by PrioritiesUSA, an Obama SuperPAC. Both Team Obama workers claimed that Obama knew nothing of the horrendous ad and its allegations that Romney had inadvertently killed Joe Soptic's wife – a ridiculous charge – who died of cancer six years ago. It was easy enough to prove that the denials were a lie by referring back to comments made by Soptic to Team Obama on May 14 of this year.
On the same day, Romney had his staff-related problems too. Andrea Saul, one of his formerly-trusted campaign spokespersons, said just about the worst thing she could possibly say regarding the Joe Soptic story. In so many words, she said that Romney's Romneycare in Massachusetts would have saved Soptic's wife. With that backhanded slap to persons who do not support national health care and support Mitt Romney, conservatives were passing out from coast to coast.
Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh went overboard by practically saying that the election was lost for Romney the minute Saul spoke her deadly words of praise for Romney's Massachusetts health care program – of which conservatives and staunch Republicans are vehemently opposed. After all, yesterday's headlines are today's garbage. OK, maybe the Saul headline won't be taken out to the trash for a period of time – but the story will likely and hopefully blow over in a reasonable amount of time.
Another high-profile conservative, Ann Coulter, a social and political commentator and conservative journalist, had a better idea. She suggests that Mitt Romney's biggest donors hold off with their donations until Romney gets smart, gets tough, and fires Andrea Saul.
Though wishing a pink slip on anyone during these economic times may be harsh, let's face it – Andrea Saul deserves it. She obviously isn't doing her job well. Furthermore, Romney can finally prove that he isn't "overly nice" – as many in his Party complain he is – by quoting Donald Trump and saying "You're fired!"
For what it's worth, in spite of these three campaign workers who work for the two presidential candidates, by the end of the week there's at least one thing everyone can agree on. Romney – in no way, shape, or form – had anything to do with the death of Joe Soptic's wife.
