Residents Cleaning Up After Powerful Storms Cause Damage In Rockland County
HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- More rain on Friday could cause flash flooding as residents in Rockland County clean up after a powerful thunderstorm swept through the area.
A flash flood watch is in effect for Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Passaic and Bergen counties in New Jersey, Rockland and Westchester counties in New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut until Friday evening.

Forecasters are calling for a couple of showers Friday with a heavy afternoon thunderstorm.
Friday's wet weather comes after a fast-moving storm system uprooted trees, damaged homes and knocked out power to hundreds of residents in Rockland County.

Some of the hardest hit areas were Haverstraw, Garnerville, Stony Point and Cortlandt.
"It seemed like within a matter of 10 minutes it had come through so quickly. It almost felt like a small tornado," West Haverstraw resident Doug Jobson said.
"The wind started to blow and the rain came down like sheets of rain, like I never saw before and it was blowing against the windows here," said Stony Point resident Jay Sophia. "I thought the windows were going to cave in."

"It was extremely windy really quickly. You couldn't see out the front window and within minutes it was clear and the sun came out," said West Haverstraw resident Christine Scher. "It was bizarre."
Based on damage reports, the National Weather Service said a microburst with high winds may have struck the area.
