Rockland County Prepping To Improve Water Quality
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – More than a dozen municipalities in Rockland County are dividing up a $750,000 grant to improve water quality in the area.

County Executive Scott Vanderhoff said the money will be distributed to the 14 municipalities that make up the storm water consortium of Rockland County to help them deal with storm water discharge and improve water quality.
"The importance of this is the public outreach that lets folks knows what we have in our yards all our important with respect potentially polluting our water resources," he said.
Pollution prevention is the best part of this, he said, and the municipalities have worked well together in the past, which is partially why he said they earned the grant.
"What you're trying to do is to make people aware and municipalities aware that this is an important topic because it goes directly to the issue of water quality in Rockland County," he said.
