Foreign Visitor Dies Of Meningitis In Rockland County
NEW CITY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A foreign national visiting relatives in Rockland County has died of meningitis, according to local health officials.
The person fell ill while visiting an unspecified Rockland County community and was taken to an area hospital, according to the Rockland County Department of Health.
The department learned Monday morning that the unidentified person had died.
The department has since notified everyone who had direct contact with the persona, and has described a round of post-exposure antibiotics.
As of Monday night, there had been no additional cases or exposures of concern reported in Rockland County, and there was no risk of the disease spreading further, the department said.
