The theme: to rebuild, renew, and reconnect with the citizens of Rockland.
"The economy, overall, in Rockland County has turned and this is the time to begin to reconnect, renew, our services to our citizens," says Vanderhoef. "Even in times of financial distress, we have a job to do as county government and we need to continue that and contemplate the new ways to do it at less cost."
Vanderhoef highlighted being on the front line of providing services such as food stamps, housing, and welfare.
Plans for the year: updating the radio system for emergency personnel, more affordable housing, and a web page residents can use to find a job right in the county.
"We need to re-focus not just the dollars and cents of every issue, but how it impacts our community in general and what our citizens deserve."
