Rockland Asks Residents To Conserve Water
NEW CITY, NY (WCBS 880) - With hot weather and little rainfall, Rockland County has asked residents to voluntarily cut back on water usage, as WCBS 880's Sean Adams reports.

The idea is to stretch the water supply through the rest of the summer, so if everyone cuts back, Rockland County should be just fine.
"We could not wash our car, not water the lawn, take shorter showers," says Judy Small, of New City. "We all have to do out part."
Though it's not at drought level yet, the Lake DeForest Reservoir, which serves Rockland County, is at 75 percent capacity -- which is about 10 percent below the 20-year average for this time of year.
Water from Lake DeForest had to be released to feed three reservoirs in Bergen County, N.J. after they fell below 50 percent capacity.
Last week, Bergen County imposed mandatory water restrictions.
