Family Of Bears Caught On Video In Rockaway Township, N.J. Backyard Pool
ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Video was released this week showing a startling find in a backyard in Rockaway Township, New Jersey.
The Basso family found a black bear and her five cubs jumping in to cool off in their backyard pool. The mother and cubs were seen playing and frolicking joyfully.
Tim Basso was watching the bears frolic in the pool with his two daughters, ages 3 and 5, who are heard offering commentary throughout the video alongside their mother and father. The Bassos posted three videos of the bears to YouTube.
The bear cubs are also seen playing with a swing on a toy swing set and sliding down a plastic toy slide, while the mother bear lifts up floating mat and other items and removes them from the pool. The girls were afraid that the bears would destroy the pool toys.
"Bad mommy bear! Bad!" one of the daughters says in the video.
The mother bear is also seen taking the garden hose, while two cubs appear to fight playfully on the lawn over the floating mat and a deflated beach ball.
At the end of the last video, the bears appear to leave the backyard on their own.
